Blue Spruce was recorded at the Davidson Brothers' childhood home in Yinnar with Andrew Clermont when Hamish was 15 and Lachlan was 13. Neither Hamish or Lachlan really did much singing at this point, so this album only features a vocal on one track, Lonesome Road Blues. However, the playing is extremely energetic and accurate for such young budding musicians.
